Get out of the hustle and bustle of Queenstown and into the real country, no car required. This 2.5 hour immersive experience takes you from central Queenstown into the heart of authentic rural New Zealand and delivers you safely back again, transport included both ways.

A Scenic Drive Most Visitors Never See

Your journey begins with a stunning 45 minute drive around the shores of Lake Wakatipu, past mountain and lake views that most travelers miss entirely, because most never venture beyond Queenstown itself.

A Real Farm. A Real Farmer.

You’ll arrive at a private sheep station just south of Queenstown, hosted by a local farmer for a genuine taste of real, rural New Zealand farming. Get into the paddock and interact with friendly farm animals. Learn how to crack a stock whip with expert instruction. Watch our clever heading and huntaway dogs muster sheep right in front of you, and discover exactly what makes each working dog breed different.

Small Groups, Real Involvement

Unlike other Queenstown farm experiences where you’re one of a big crowd, we cap every group at 20 guests, so it stays intimate, hands-on and personal. You’ll be part of the action, not standing at the back of a crowd.

Driving Yourself? You’re Welcome To Visit.

We’re conveniently located right on the main highway between Queenstown and Te Anau/Milford Sound. If you have your own transport, you’re welcome to visit us directly and experience our Farm Show, Sheep Shearing, or Feed the Animals experiences instead.

Pick Up and Drop Off Location

Your pick up and drop off point is the Frankton Bus Shelter, located at the Frankton Terminus on Kawarau Road, Frankton, Queenstown 9300.

How to Get There from Central Queenstown

• Driving or by taxi/rideshare: it’s a 5 minute drive from central Queenstown. Search “Frankton Bus Shelter” or “Frankton Bus Interchange” in Google Maps, Uber, or your taxi app, and it’ll take you straight there.
• By local bus: Frankton Bus Shelter is where all four of Queenstown’s Orbus routes connect (Fernhill to Remarkables Park, Arthurs Point to Arrowtown, Kelvin Heights to Frankton Flats, and Lake Hayes to Jacks Point), so if you’re staying centrally, hop on any Orbus service heading toward Frankton and get off at the terminus.
• On foot: it’s roughly a 25 to 30 minute walk from central Queenstown if you’d like to make a morning of it, though we’d recommend driving, rideshare, or the bus so you’re fresh for the farm.
• What it looks like: a covered bus shelter right at the Frankton roundabout, easy to spot, with public toilets nearby. It’s a well known local landmark, so any taxi driver or local will know exactly where it is.

Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled pick up time so we can depart on time and make the most of your 2.5 hours with us. The Real Country bus departs at sharp at the scheduled time.
