Real Country was founded by ‘Southern Girl’ Laura Koot in 2016. Laura was born and raised on a sheep farm in Southland, New Zealand and loves sharing what she likes to call “the real, rural New Zealand” with her guests.
Real Country experiences are now operated by Laura and an amazing team of local rural hosts who are passionate about showcasing what we do to every group that visits the Real Country farm.
We feel privileged to offer the experiences we deliver, we are grateful for the amazing reviews our guests leave us and we love what we do! We are proud to again in 2023 be awarded with a Gold rating from Qualmark which means our guests know that they will receive exceptional service from an award winning operator.
Laura believes that confidence is not something you are born with, but it can be earned. All Real Country experiences help guests earn confidence by doing unfamiliar tasks in a safe and fun environment. Through our social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram we aim to help share our lessons and our journey with our followers, because we don’t do what we do to make a living, we do what we do to make a difference.

Laura is amazing at what she does. Everyone should be given an opportunity to learn how to shoot, use a bow and arrow and crack a whip. Nothing better than spending a few hours in the country. I highly recommend

Laura was amazing, she taught me the correct and safe way to handle guns and how to shoot which had me hitting targets faster than I ever thought I would. She is fun bubbly and makes you feel well at home
